PATATAS BRAVAS: Sliced or cubed potatoes with a spicy sauce. Best served piping hot with a cool beer.

Bar Tomás, Barcelona1.  Bar Tomás de Sarria

This place has to be top of our list as it is renowned for whipping up the best bravas in Barcelona. Bar Tomás can be found in the upper Sarrià district of Barcelona – a little further out of the realms of the Gothic Quarter and Las Ramblas, but definitely worth a visit – and is more often than not full to the brim with hungry fans queuing up for portions of potatoey goodness. An absolute favourite with locals, you may have to wait for a table here, but the delicious chunky wedges are definitely worth it! This place even won a prize for the best patatas bravas in Barcelona!

2.  Bitácora

Located just a short stroll away from Barceloneta Beach, this is a great place to sit back and enjoy a round or two of bravas, especially after a day in the Mediterranean sun. The rustic interior and local feel is great and the portions are certainly generous. A perfect way to round off a day of sand and sea!

Carrer Balboa, 1

One of the best tapas spots in the whole of Barcelona, Elsa y Fred is famed for their out-of-this-world patatas bravas. Found in the El Born neighbourhood, not too far from the impressive Arc de Triomf, it’s the perfect stop to fuel up on some chunky, potatoey goodness. They also serve some excellent house wines to accompany, Elsa-blanco and Fred-tinto!

Carrer del Rec Comtal, 11

Slap bang in the middle of the medieval neighbourhood of El Born, this is a great place to stop off for a nibble during your sightseeing route and to sample some delicious patatas bravas in Barcelona. Known for its wonderful, Catalan-Middle Eastern fusion tapas, the bravas here are a winner. And with live music regularly performed, there is always a cool, happening atmosphere here!

Nou Candanchu, Patatas Bravas, Barcelona5.  Nou Candanchu

This is definitely one of our favourite tapas bars in Barcelona.
