Blanes is located approximately 75 km northeast of Barcelona, and there are several ways to get there. Here are some of the most common options:
- By train: This is by far the most convenient way to get to Blanes from Barcelona. Trains run regularly from Barcelona’s Sants Station, and are very reliable. The journey only takes an hour… so what are you waiting for?
- By bus: There are several bus companies that operate services from Barcelona to Blanes, including Sarfa and Moventis. The journey takes around an hour and 15, depending on traffic.
- By car: Alternatively, if you prefer to drive, this is certainly an easy option, should you have a car. The journey offers scenic views along the way!

1. Visit the Marimurtra Botanical Garden:
The Marimurtra Botanical Garden is a stunning botanical garden located in Blanes. It was founded in 1921 by German botanist Karl Faust and is known for its exceptional collection of Mediterranean and subtropical plants.

Our personal favourite is the Platja de Blanes; one of the most popular beaches in the area. This beach has stunning clear blue waters and soft golden sand, making it an ideal spot for swimming and sunbathing. It is also a great place to relax and enjoy the stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. The beach is surrounded by rocky cliffs, which add to its natural beauty and provide a sheltered cove for swimmers.
Platja de Blanes is well-equipped with amenities, including showers, toilets, and changing rooms. There are also several beach bars and restaurants where visitors can enjoy a refreshing drink or a bite to eat. What’s not to love?
3. Explore the Castle of Sant Joan:
The historic castle is perched on a rocky hilltop overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and is one of the town’s most prominent landmarks.
The castle dates back to the 11th century and was originally built as a watchtower to defend the coast from pirates and other invaders.
