If you happen to find yourself in Barcelona during the weekend of July 5 and 6 this year, then you’re in luck! Not only do you get to experience the city during its most enjoyable season, summer, you’ll also have the chance to attend one of its most popular musical extravaganzas: Festival Cruïlla.
Featuring over 40 acts from around the world, including the likes of Snoop Dogg, this annual festival draws in an international crowd of music lovers by the masses. For two days, Cruïlla, which means ‘crossing paths’ in Catalan, will rock Barcelona’s Parc del Fòrum, providing nonstop entertainment from international superstars across a wide spectrum of musical genres, from pop to rock and more. Check out some of the artists we’re most excited about this year!
Snoop Lion (formerly known as Snoop Dogg)
There’s no denying that Snoop is notorious for offering exceptionally entertaining live performances, however, we’re especially eager for this particular concert for two significant reasons: Firstly, this is the only stop in Spain that Snoop will be making during his tour, which alone speaks volumes about this festival; And secondly, Snoop has completely transformed his persona and has even taken up a new stage name: Snoop Lion. Fans in attendance of the Cruïlla Festival on Saturday 6 July will be able to catch some of Snoop’s latest work from his album Reincarnated, which has a reggae vibe that the artist has never before sampled.
Wyclef Jean and the Refugee Camp
This international superstar and former member of the popular The Fugees trio has never been known to disappoint. Acknowledged for his deep love of Haitian culture and his philanthropic work off stage, Wyclef Jean will be bringing his reggae-rap hybridization to Barcelona for the first time in his long career. Furthermore, his performance on Friday 5 July at the Cruïlla Festival will be his one and only concert in Spain for the remainder of the year.
James Morrison
From classic folk with splashes of gospel to soulful tunes with a hint of Latino, James Morrison’s vibes are set to take Cruïlla by storm this year. The British songwriter sensation will be enchanting audiences on the Friday of the festival, bringing with him sounds from his latest album The Awakening – not to be missed!
Rufus Wainwright
He’s been in the business for over 20 years, bringing his expertise in the sound of rock, opera and ‘popera’ along with his unique style singing voice to the world of music. Once named ‘Best New Artist’ by the famous Rolling Stone magazine, Rufus Wainwright is ready to showcase his 7th album, Out of the Game at the Cruïlla Festival this year, which was produced by the retro modern, Mark Ronson, and will no doubt be a scope from the finest sounds and styles from this extremely talented singer-songwriter.
With plenty more top acts, some über-cool tunes and a fantastic summer fiesta atmosphere, don’t miss the Cruïlla Festival in Barcelona this year. Prices for tickets start at 40 Euro per day, with a two-day ticket costing 65 Euro. For more info on the venue, tickets and lineup, visit the Cruïlla Festival official website.
