Unsurprisingly, Barcelona is one of the most photographed cities in the world. The colours, designs, viewpoints, architecture and artwork found in this incredible city are unparalleled, hence why a quick hashtag search of #Barcelona brings up over 37 million photos… and we won’t even begin to discuss the constant flow of pictures that appear below Barcelona’s location tag on the popular app! Be sure to have your cameras at the ready…
Bunkers del Carmel
Anybody who knows Barcelona well enough will know that the best views of the city can be found by heading up to the Bunkers del Carmel. Built as anti-aircraft forts in 1938, during the Spanish Civil War, the bunkers were situated atop the Turó de la Rovira hill so that the entirety of the city could be seen, hence why the it’s such an amazing viewpoint! Many famous Instagram travellers and photographers set up base here to capture the perfect shot, and with those views, it really doesn’t take too many tries! We recommend heading up there just before sunset to catch the multi-coloured skies over the city and, of course, to secure the dreamiest background for that all-important Instagram shot!

Passeig de Lluis Companys
A grand boulevard lined from start to finish with leafy palm trees, Passeig de Lluis Companys may not ring a bell to some, as the location for this picture perfect spot is often saved on Instagram as ‘Arc de Triomf’. This cool piece of architecture can be found at the top of this promenade meaning the photo opportunities are endless. What’s more, Passeig de Lluis Companys often has plenty of interesting street performers, balloon sellers and bubble blowers (it sounds strange but it’s actually quite cool!), all of which could be potential components of your quirky Instagram photo.
El Born
You may be wondering where in El Born is the best to take an instagram photo, but the correct answer is literally everywhere and anywhere. This charming neighbourhood is home to a collection of beautiful, winding streets that often boast something interesting to photograph and post on your feed, whether it’s dainty fairy lights, colourful buntings or incredible street art.

El Món Neix en Cada Besada
Barcelona is home to plenty of quirky street art, but this piece by Joan Fontcuberta and Antoni Cumella is definitely one of our favourites. Its title translates to ‘the world begins with every kiss’, which is just lovely in itself! However, the coolest part about it is that it’s actually a composition of photographs printed onto tiny ceramic tiles to make a mosaic effect. Each individual tile is printed with photographs that are in some way a representation of a type of expression of freedom, whether it’s a person, a place or simply a captured moment. So, not only will you be able to capture a cool instagram shot, but you will also have a backstory behind it!
Sagrada Família
This one just goes without saying. Architect Antoni Gaudí began construction for what is arguably his most famous work way back in 1882. Tragically, at the time of his death in 1926, the aweinspiring basilica was still very must a work in progress. However, thanks to funds raised by donations and from entrance tickets, as well as the well-preserved architect drawings and plans, construction has continued and is still underway today. Today, only 8 of the planned 18 towers have been erected but building is due to finish around 2026, more than 140 years after it was started. Whilst you may encounter the odd crane, the Sagrada Familia is definitely still visitable as well as instagrammable. Once inside, you can venture to the top to discover amazing views of the city…don’t forget your camera!

Casa Batlló
Another of Gaudí’s creations, Casa Batlló stands proudly on the chic Passeig de Gràcia, the ultimate example of modernist architecture. Inspired by nature, the colourful roof tiles mimic snake scales and the front facing façade of the building features windows that appear bone-like. The whole house has few straight lines and even though is was built in 1906, it is still amongst the most innovative and conteporary buildings in the city. You can visit the house for a guided tour and even climb up to the roof terrace, decked in fairy lights. For the prime photo opportunity time, we recommend heading there in the evening to catch a glimpse of the house light up at night. You can thank us later…

Montjuïc
At the end of Avingude de la Reina Maria Cristina, that juts of the impressive Plaça d’Espanya, stands the majestic Palau Nacional, home to the National Art Museum of Catalonia, proudly perched on the top of Montjuïc. The museum has housed countless exhibitions including works by famous artists such as Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, William Morris and Salvador Dalí. If seeing the actual art isn’t your thing, check out the magic fountain that sits in front of the palace and offers a light show most evenings, providing the ultimate instagram opportunity! Check out the fountain show timetable here.
