SpringSpring in Barcelona

Spring is the perfect season in Barcelona, not too hot, not too cold. But as temperatures begin to rise making the city sunny and warm, it is common to have short afternoon showers in the spring. This is a great season to visit Barcelona if you want to beat the heat while you tour the city.

Event not to miss: La Diada de Sant Jordi is celebrated on April 23 all over the city, with book stands and rose peddlers lining the streets, so this is a great time to visit if you want to catch a glimpse of a Barcelona tradition or two.

 

SummerBarcelona Beach

The summer in Barcelona is warm, but it can feel much hotter due to the high humidity and the endless hours of sunshine. Luckily, the cool shores of the Mediterranean Sea are within walking distance from the city center.

Event not to miss: If you are visiting in mid August be sure to catch the Festa Major de Gràcia, an eclectic neighborhood festival with great food, street decorations,  and music.

 

AutumnLa Merce Barcelona Autumn

The humidity subsides in autumn in Barcelona, leaving comfortable and warm temperatures with the sun still shining bright allowing you to get a few good beach days before you leave the city. Like in the spring, you can expect scattered showers throughout the weeks of autumn.

Event not to miss: An event you absolutely don’t want to miss is La Mercè, the biggest festival of the year in Barcelona. It is 5 days of concerts, street performances, good food & drink, shopping, and rides, in several neighborhoods throughout the city.

Winter in Barcelona is very short, temperatures during the day are mild and still sunny but at night they can go below freezing so remember to bring a jacket. You can expect a few rainy days but snow is not common in the city.

Event not to miss: In January the coming of the 3 Kings is celebrated. Based on the story the wise men, there is a massive parade throughout the city on January 5th. On the 6th children wake up to presents and families spend the day off work and school celebrating together.
