Barcelona’s Top Beach Bars for the Summer
What better way to relax after seeing the magnificent sights in Gaudí’s city than by kicking back on the beach with a refreshing cocktail as the sun sets over the Mediterranean?
Originally a beach shack serving drinks and a few snacks, the chiringuito, or xiringuito in Catalan, has evolved alongside Barcelona and is now a more sophisticated establishment, with many now offering an impressive menu and extensive cocktail lists. Sit back on a deckchair on the sand and watch the Mediterranean Sea glisten in the warm, early evening sun. These places are massively popular during the summer, so you should get down there early to secure your spot.
While Barcelona’s beaches aren’t known for Ibiza-style beach parties, many chiringuitos create the perfect summer atmosphere with great food, refreshing drinks and, at some venues, seasonal DJ sessions. To help you make the most of your stay, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite beach bars to visit in Barcelona this summer.
1. Bambú by Somos de Playa
For a taste of Southeast Asia, head to Bambú. This great spot offers a variety of summer classics, providing a tranquil vibe by day and turning into the place to be at night. With freshly made cocktails and good music, it’s one of the top outdoor party spots. It’s a bit further along the coastline, but trust us, well worth the travel.

Along with their wonderfully home-made pastries, their specialities include a delicious paella and some other great seafood dishes, making this without a doubt one of the best chiringuitos in Barcelona. This place is perfect for summer dining, and we recommend ordering the paella followed by a slice of one of their amazing homemade cakes.
