The Labyrinth Park of Horta | What to see

laberint horta barcelona

The Labyrinth Park of Horta, or Parc del Laberint d’Horta, is a charming historic garden located in the Horta-Guinardó district of Barcelona, Spain. It is the oldest conserved garden in the city and offers visitors a tranquil escape from the bustling urban environment. The park was designed in the late 18th century by the Italian architect Domenico Bagutti for the Desvalls family.

How to get there

  1. Metro: Take Line 3 (Green Line) to the “Mundet” station. From there, it’s about a 10 to 15-minute walk to the park. Follow the signs or use a map to guide you.

  2. Bus: Bus lines H4, 60, and 73 have stops near the park. You can check the specific bus routes and schedules to plan your journey accordingly.

  3. Taxi: Taxis are readily available in Barcelona, and you can simply request a taxi to take you to the Labyrinth Park of Horta. Inform the driver of the park’s address (Passeig dels Castanyers, 1, 08035 Barcelona) , and they will take you directly to the entrance.

Why visit the Parc del Laberint d’Horta

The Labyrinth Park of Horta is a popular destination for locals and tourists seeking a peaceful retreat. It offers opportunities for leisurely walks, picnics, and relaxation amidst nature. The park is well-maintained and provides benches and shaded areas where visitors can sit and enjoy the serene surroundings.

Visiting the Labyrinth Park of Horta allows you to step back in time, explore a unique labyrinth, and appreciate the beauty of nature. It offers a refreshing and enchanting experience for individuals, families, and nature enthusiasts seeking a tranquil oasis within the vibrant city of Barcelona.

Highlights of the Parc del Laberint d’Horta

The highlight of the park is its beautiful neoclassical-style labyrinth, which gives the park its name. The labyrinth consists of neatly trimmed hedges that create a maze-like path for visitors to explore. It’s a fun and engaging activity for both children and adults, offering a sense of adventure and discovery.

In addition to the labyrinth, the park features lush greenery, scenic paths, and various garden areas. There are serene ponds, fountains, and statues scattered throughout the park, adding to its serene and picturesque ambiance. The garden is beautifully landscaped with a mix of Mediterranean and English garden styles, providing a super romantic atmosphere.

The park offers not only natural beauty but also historical and architectural significance. The pavilions and buildings within the park, such as the Romantic Garden Pavilion and the Renaissance-style Pavilion of Carlos IV, showcase different architectural styles and serve as a testament to the park’s rich history.
