The Best Winter Sales in Barcelona

We all know that if you’re looking for a bargain, the winter sales are the best time of year to find one. With a bit of money set aside, you’re ready to take on the challenge of hunting down the best deals and becoming the envy of family and friends.

The sales season in Barcelona doesn’t only involve internationally recognised brands—it also includes local boutiques in areas such as the Gothic Quarter, El Born and Gràcia, so don’t forget to visit them if you’re also looking for more sustainable bargains.

When to shop during winter?

Although shops in Spain are generally not allowed to open on Sundays, the Government of Catalonia publishes a list each year of eight Sundays or public holidays when stores are permitted to open. The winter sales officially start on January 7th and usually run until early March. However, there is no single official start date for all shops, so it’s best to check individual stores to see when they launch their best discounts.

Every year, long queues form outside shops on the main streets as shoppers try to be the first to snap up discounted items. So we recommend putting on your most comfortable trainers and getting ready to compete with the rest of Barcelona for the best bargains!

The best shops to find bargains

Zara

One of the most anticipated sales events of the year, with more than half a dozen stores across Barcelona. Their winter sales will start on the afternoon of January 6th via their app and website, and from January 7th the discounts will also be available in-store. You’ll find some great deals here, with discounts ranging from 20–50% during the first sales period and up to 70% off during the second wave of sales from March 1st onwards.

Stradivarius

Owned by the same company as Zara, the trendy Stradivarius starts its sales on the same dates: the afternoon of January 6th on its app and website, and January 7th in-store. You’ll find discounts of up to 50% off the original price. Treat yourself to a fresh new outfit for your wardrobe!

Massimo Dutti

This Spanish brand has often been described as “Zara’s more sophisticated older sister”—and for good reason! Offering a wide range of clothing for both men and women, Massimo Dutti’s winter sale runs until the end of February, with discounts ranging from 20% to 40%, and even 50–60% off selected items.

H&M

If you think H&M offers great deals on a regular day, wait until you see their winter sales, with discounts of up to 70% off selected items. Starting on December 26th, H&M aims to be one of the first brands to kick off the winter sales—so get your wish list ready, because these are deals you won’t want to miss!

Mango

The 2026 winter sales at Mango are set to be some of the best yet. As with H&M, discounts will start on December 26th via the app and will be available in stores from December 27th. The sales will run until mid-February, with many items discounted by up to half price. If you’ve had your eye on that beautiful bag for a while, now’s the time to go for it!

Corte Inglés

If you’re planning to make the most of the winter sales, don’t forget to visit El Corte Inglés! It’s often considered home to some of the best deals in Spain, with discounts of up to 50%. Thanks to its wide range of fashion, gadgets and home appliances, you’re bound to find some impressive savings here.

Best shopping areas

As mentioned earlier, it’s not only the big stores that take part in the winter sales. If you’d like to shop while supporting local businesses in Barcelona, heading to the city’s different neighbourhoods is the best way to do so. Many local shops don’t have online sales, so why not take a stroll around the city and discover some truly charming stores?

El Born

The perfect place to find alternative fashion that’s sure to help you stand out from the crowd is the neighbourhood of El Born. It’s an area full of quirky shops and unique local spots to explore.

We recommend: On Land and Cortana.

Calle estrecha del centro histórico de Barcelona en invierno, con edificios antiguos, balcones, farolas tradicionales y personas paseando.

El Gótico

Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter is not only a tourist hotspot, but also a charming maze of narrow streets filled with some of the best local shops the city has to offer.

We recommend: Handmade Barcelona, La Basilica Galeria Perfume, La Veintinueve.

Calle estrecha del Barrio Gótico de Barcelona al atardecer, con edificios medievales, farolas encendidas y el puente neogótico al fondo.

Gràcia

Gràcia is known for its wide selection of local boutiques and for being home to some of the city’s most quirky bars and restaurants. After all, what’s a shopping trip without stopping for a coffee in the corner square?

We recommend: Cuervo Cobbler, Black Bird and GreenLifestyle.

The best shopping centres in the city

Besides Barcelona’s iconic shopping streets and neighbourhoods, another great way to shop until you drop is by visiting one of the city’s many shopping centres. There are plenty of shopping malls in Barcelona, but to make things easier for you, here are our top three favourites:

Las Arenas

Built on the site of a former bullring, this impressive shopping centre is located next to Plaça Espanya and is one of the largest in Barcelona, with 100 shops spread across six floors. Las Arenas also features a cinema and a wide selection of rooftop restaurants, all offering stunning 360º views over the city.

Diagonal Mar

Ubicado en el distrito de Sant Martí, este centro comercial es popular entre turistas y lugareños gracias a su impresionante selección de más de 200 tiendas, restaurantes y un complejo de cines y recreativos.

Maremagnum

The best thing about this shopping centre is that, unlike most others, it stays open on Sundays! Located in Port Vell, next to the Aquarium, it offers stunning views over the sea and Montjuïc. This fantastic mall features two floors filled with shops, bars and restaurants.

Online shopping savings

You might prefer to skip the queues and shop from the comfort of your sofa. This year, there are plenty of great deals available online. You can browse ASOS, Lookfantastic or Net-a-Porter, where you’ll find some amazing offers from the end of December, with discounts of up to 50%. And if it’s half price, that means we can buy twice as much… right?

If you’re tempted by the winter sales in Barcelona in 2026 but aren’t currently in the Catalan capital, why not plan a trip to see what it’s all about? Head over to the AB Apartment Barcelona website to find a fantastic apartment at an even better price, so you can make the most of the sales and everything our beautiful city has to offer.
