Get Involved
For those that like to participate in sports as well as watch, here’s some of the things you can do in the city over the coming summer months.
Beach volleyball
With over 5km of coastline and 10 different beaches, Barcelona is the perfect place for a game of beach volleyball. There are nets on every beach and plenty of opportunities to join those already playing.
Running
Running is popular among both tourists and locals in the city, with plenty of routes to complete along the coastline, through the city, or up in the Collserola mountains.
Fitness
There are loads of indoor gyms in Barcelona that have aerobic classes as well as weight areas, for those that prefer to do their own workout. Some of the beaches also have outdoor gym equipment, and there are various outdoor swimming pools located across the city.
Swimming
As well as heading to the beach to swim, many also enjoy the city’s public swimming pools. The Piscines Bernat Picornell, Piscina de Can Dragó, Piscina d’Horta, and Piscina Sant Jordi, are some of our favourite places in the city to go for a swim.
Skateboarding
Skateboarding is really popular in the city, especially among young people. There are lots of different skate parks scattered across Barcelona, and popular meeting places include Skate park Mar Bella and Plaça dels Angels outside the MACBA museum in El Raval.
Cycling
Bike hire can be found across the city, and there are plenty of cycle routes to explore Barcelona by pedal power. Popular routes include Collserola, Montjuic, or along the coastline.
Climbing
Barcelona is home to indoor climbing walls for those that want to go bouldering. The indoor rock climbing facilities by Montjuic are where we usually like to go.
