We\u2019ve all seen the film, but have you ever been to a real Night at the Museum<\/em>? On Saturday 18th of May<\/strong>, Barcelona will take part in its annual Nit dels Museus<\/em>, inviting museums in Barcelona and its surrounding areas to open their doors to host a special night of exhibitions, concerts, performances, workshops, guided tours, and activities\u2026 all for free!<\/strong><\/p>\n

What is the Night of the Museums?<\/h2>\n

\"PicassoThis event comes before\u00a0International Museum Day<\/em>, this year on the 18th of May, which was founded in 1977 to raise public awareness of the importance of museums in societal development.<\/p>\n

The Night of the Museums is celebrated in over 120 countries around the world<\/strong>, and in Catalonia the areas of Barcelona, l’Hospitalet, Badalona, Cornell\u00e0, Esplugues, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Sant Adri\u00e0 and Sant Joan Desp\u00ed<\/em>, will be taking part.<\/p>\n

Who is taking part?<\/h2>\n

This year more than 70 museums<\/strong> in Barcelona are taking part in this spectacular event!\u00a0We recommend planning your route so you can do the maximum number of museums in the time, and remember some museums are on the other side of the city to each other!<\/p>\n

Be expected to queue<\/strong> to enter the museums as this event is super popular with both locals and tourists. Many museums also open up their temporary exhibitions on this night, for example the CCCB<\/em>– Contemporary Culture Centre of Barcelona \u2013 and CaixaForum<\/em>. Take into account that some of the more well-known places like the Picasso Museum or the MACBA will issue tickets<\/strong> beforehand. Where should I go?<\/h2>\n

\"DaliThe Night of the Museums is also a great chance to explore some of the lesser-known museums in Barcelona, most of which will hold workshops<\/strong> and organised talks that will slowly ease you into perhaps more niche subjects. Why not head out of town and immerse yourself in all things Salvador Dal\u00ed at The Dal\u00ed Theatre- Museum<\/em> in Figueres<\/em>?<\/p>\n
