Barcelona’s 10 Best Beach Bars to Enjoy This Summer

Barcelona’s 10 Best Beach Bars to Enjoy This Summer

What better way to relax after seeing the magnificent sights in Gaudí’s city than by kicking back on the beach with a cocktail and watching the sunset?

Originally a beach shack serving drinks and a few snacks, the chiringuito, or xiringuito in Catalan, has evolved along with Barcelona and now is a more sophisticated establishment, some of which offer an impressive menu and an extended list of cocktails. Lay back on a deckchair on the sand whilst watching the Mediterranean Sea glisten in the warm, early evening sun. These places are massively popular during the summer, so you should get down there early to reserve your spot.

Unfortunately, due to local legislation passed a few years ago, live music is prohibited, so don’t come here expecting an Ibiza-esque sunset experience – you’ll have to travel a little outside of Barcelona for that kind of party. We have listed a few of our favourite chiringuitos below for you to try out during your stay in Barcelona this summer.

1. Bambú

For a taste of Southeast Asia, head to Bambú. This great spot offers a variety of summer classics, providing a tranquil vibe by day and turning into the place to be at night. With freshly made cocktails and good music, it’s one of the top outdoor party spots. It’s a bit further along the coastline, but trust us, well worth the travel.

2. Xiringuito Escribà

This chiringuito is owned and run by the well-known Escribà group, who have made their name with their pastry shops and cafés on Gran Via and La Rambla. Along with their wonderfully home-made pastries, their specialities include a delicious paella and some other great seafood dishes, making this without doubt one of the best chiringuitos in Barcelona. This place is perfect for summer dining, and we recommend ordering the paella followed by a slice of one of their amazing homemade cakes.

3. La Deliciosa

Located right on the sand, La Deliciosa is the perfect place to enjoy the beach and try some tasty Mediterranean cuisine. Here, you will find tasty snacks and delicious tapas, and with a team of experienced bartenders, this chiringuito offers some of the best cocktails in the city! It is also one of the closest beach bars to the city, meaning that it is easily walkable from the centre. Enjoy a perfect beach day and welcome the summer with open arms.

4. El Chiringuito Group

El Chiringuito Group has not one, not two, but three chiringuitos in Barcelona – so it’s safe to say they’re quite the experts! With branches on Bogatell, San Sebastian and Mar Bella, they provide a great menu with plenty of tasty dishes, fresh fruit and, of course, yummy cocktails. With summer tunes and great vibes, we definitely recommend that you visit one of their chiringuitos this summer!

5. Vai Moana

Situated on Bogatell Beach, which is very popular with families, this Vai Moana has one of the best children’s menus on offer. With a traditional menu of Catalan and Spanish dishes, as well as a great cocktail menu, this chiringuito has something for everyone. There are funky tunes in the evening and a cool surfer vibe during the day, and we also recommend heading to some of their sister locales, which are spread all across the Barcelona coastline: Blue, La Deliciosa, Bambú, and Gurú.

6. Chiringuito Beach Mamma Burger Bar

The perfect combination of lapping waves, warm sunshine and a cool cocktail simply cannot be beaten. Mamma Beach moved from Poblenou to Plaza del Mar at the top of Barceloneta near Hotel W, making it even easier to access than before. They offer tasty burgers, nachos and a great selection of cocktails and beers to be enjoyed in the sun. For those who might want to escape the heat, there’s also the option to sit inside at Mamma’s, too.

7. Bo Kaap

Another great chiringuito option is Bo Kaap, which is part of the same chain as Bambú, ensuring an excellent experience. Inspired by South Africa, this charming beach bar is located on the stunning Bogatell Beach. It’s the perfect spot to socialise with friends, relax with family, or simply bask in the sun while enjoying delicious food and cocktails.

8. Makamaka Beach Burger Café

Just steps from Barceloneta Beach, Makamaka is a funky beachside burger bar known for its relaxed vibe and colourful, tropical decor. What began as a chill hangout among friends has grown into one of the city’s most loved spots for gourmet burgers and cocktails. Their menu features creative burger options (including veggie and vegan), crispy fries, loaded nachos, and cheeky sides like truffle mac & cheese. The drinks menu is just as tempting, with fresh juices, mojitos, and signature cocktails served all day. Whether fresh off the sand or out for a laid-back evening with friends, Makamaka offers a lively, feel-good atmosphere that captures the spirit of summer in Barcelona.

9. Ca La Nuri Platja

Located on the Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta, Ca La Nuri Platja offers a more refined chiringuito experience with beachfront dining and a focus on traditional Catalan cuisine. Known for its seafood and rice dishes, this long-standing favourite serves up paella, black rice with cuttlefish, and other Mediterranean classics made with high-quality local ingredients. The vibe is elegant but relaxed, perfect for a romantic dinner or a special lunch with a sea view. Great service, a well-curated wine list, and a setting just metres from the waves make Ca La Nuri a must for food lovers looking to enjoy the beach in style.
