For the chocoholics amongst us, Barcelona is the place to be. Chocolate shops, churros con chocolate and even a chocolate museum can be found in this amazing city, making it the perfect getaway for those with a sweet tooth!
Museu de la Xocolata – discover the history of chocolate!
Amongst the winding streets of El Born, you’ll find what was once the Sant Augustí monastery, but today is Barcelona’s very own chocolate museum. Since the age of discovery in the 15th century, chocolate has played a key role in the economic and social fabric of Barcelona. Along these lines, Barcelona port acted as a starting point for the sale and distribution of the product all over Europe – how interesting! The Museu de la Xocolata provides a journey through the origins of chocolate, its arrival in Europe, its medicinal properties and many other interesting themes. At the museum, there are plenty of activities available whether you come in a group or as an individual – the perfect day out for chocolate lovers!
