Where To Celebrate New Year’s Eve In Barcelona

new year 2019

Are you in Barcelona for New Year’s Eve this year? Or are tempted by the idea of a last minute flight to the city to bring in 2019? Traditionally, the locals celebrate the Nochevieja by dining with family, eating 12 grapes in 12 dongs of a bell, and toasting with glasses filled with cava, and then going out to party afterwards! Wow!

So if you have plans to say adiós to 2018 and hola to 2019 in Barcelona, keep reading to find out where to go…

Plaça d’Espanya

montjuicHome to the Magic Fountain of Montjuic and Barcelona’s official New Year’s Eve celebration, Plaça d’Espanya will be hosting a free event complete with music, lights, and an amazing pyrotechnic display.

Even if you have seen the fountain show before, we recommend heading to Plaça d’Espanya to join in the celebrations with the locals, who love this family friendly event!

The show itself starts around 23:30 and lasts 30 minutes, but we recommend going a little earlier to claim the best spot…

Plaça Catalunya

Another option for a street celebration is in Plaça Catalunya, whose central location always brings in the crowds. Plaça Catalunya is also favoured by the locals but can sometimes become a bit rowdy, especially when all the partygoers throw their empty bottles of cava into the centre of the square!

If you are heading to a street party, make sure you don’t forget your cava and grapes! If you fancy going to a club event instead, why not try these…

Razzmatazz

RazzmatazzWith five floors to choose from, Razzmatazz is the biggest club in town and one of our favourites at Apartment Barcelona. It’s a little more expensive than the other clubs in our list, but we guarantee you’ll have a good time bringing in the new year at Razzmatazz.

New Year’s Eve prices:
• After 20:30: €49.50 (price includes 2 drinks + Razz”19 t shirt (while supplies last) + party bag + grapes + glass of cava)
• After 00:01: €39.50 (price includes 2 drinks + Razz” t shirt (while supplies last))

Book tickets through the official Razzmatazz website.

Poble Espanyol

This year, Poble Espanyol will be hosting the 30th edition of their very special New Year’s party offering three different places to party: Plaza Mayor, a large and comfortable outdoor space; the Marquee; and the VIP area lounge area.

The party at Poble Espanyol kicks off at 22:30 and doesn’t wrap up until 06:00. Tickets cost €35 or €55 (VIP) in advance.

Remember to dress warm as this is an outdoor party!

Buy tickets using the Poble Espanyol website.

Pacha

The club that needs no introduction, Pacha has long since been a favourite with visitors to the city. As Pacha is more heavily favoured by tourists, this year they are hosting an international party starting minutes before midnight, and ending at 06:45…

Tickets range from €30-€200 and you can buy them on Pacha’s online page.

Rooftop Bars

For a more tranquil affair, think about heading to one of Barcelona’s many rooftop terraces. Some of our favourites are…
• Casa Fuster for a high-end celebration
• Mirablau Club on Tibidabo Hill with views looking down onto the city
• Majestic for an extravagant evening and an even more extravagant location

Remember the metro is running all night on New Year’s Eve, so you don’t even have to spend your life’s savings on a taxi! So from everyone here at Apartment Barcelona, we wish you a Happy New Year, and hope to see you again in 2019…

¡Feliz Año Nuevo!  Bon Any Nou!  Happy New Year!
