6 Unique Pastry Shops in Barcelona

Pastries

Barcelona, home to the Sagrada Família, Park Güell… and plenty of yummy bakeries. Sink your teeth into these delicious pastry shops when visiting the Catalan capital, you won’t be disappointed!

Escribàescriba

This fantastic cake shop has been passed down through generations with a great love for pastry since 1906. Current owner Antoni Escribà is even internationally known as the “Mozart of chocolate”. There are two branches of this dessert and pastry store in Barcelona and both make fabulous cakes for celebrations and big events as well as some delicious sweet treats for a tasty breakfast or mid-afternoon snack. Due to their high quality ingredients and delicate touches, some of the desserts are on the pricier side, but this patisserie is a must-see on your Barcelona dessert tour. Our personal recommendation is the “Llavi” – enjoy the kiss!

Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes 546, 08011 Barcelona

Rambla de les Flors 83, 08002 Barcelona

Chökkronut

Have you ever tried a kronut? If not, you’re severely missing out and it’s time to change this. One of the pastry world’s most up-and-coming desserts is a combination of a croissant and a donut giving you the best of both worlds! Offering a variety of flavours from pistachio and Nutella to Kinder Bueno, you can pick your favourite and enter kronut paradise at Chök. As one of the most aesthetically pleasing bakeries in the city, it’s ideal for all you instagramers out there. Besides their two main locations, which are conveniently located at the corner of Raval just a few steps off La Rambla, they have a smaller shop in the shopping centre El Corte Inglés in Plaça de Catalunya.

La DolcaLa Dolça

La Dolça is a fabulous gastronomic space in the well-known “Tickets” Restaurant, which is rated number 29 in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. The association with such a top quality restaurant guarantees the desserts are top notch and not only that, but La Dolça also takes you back to your childhood and lets you enter a world of whimsical imagination. Entering this café you may feel like you’ve shrunk – just like Alice did. The tables are like giant doilies and the ceiling is covered in a vibrant and enormous color explosion of strawberries, blueberries and flowers. This pastry shop reminds their guests of magical stories like “Alice in Wonderland” or “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, offering a quite unique atmosphere. See the world through the eyes of a child and enjoy this exquisite dessert spot in Barcelona!

This unique patisserie will impress you with some of the most surprising flavours you can imagine. The hole-in-the-wall donut shop is a must-see during your time in the city. From apple and maple bacon to cacao violet, your taste buds will be singing with joy after sampling one of these delights. All freshly made on site with three fermentations, hand cut and fried, it is unlikely that you will find a better donut shop in Barcelona. They use 100% natural and organic ingredients, and make donuts that are inspired by the seasons and flavours of Barcelona. Since they produce the donuts in small batches throughout the day you can always be sure to enjoy them as fresh and delicious as possible. Get there early to have the best selection because once a flavour sells out, that’s it for the day. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
