The Best Mexican Restaurants in Barcelona

La Hacienda

When it comes to Mexican food (or any food for that matter) in Barcelona, the phrase ‘spoilt for choice’ springs to mind. With Mexican cantinas round every corner, it’s hard to choose where to get your fix of nachos, quesadillas and of course – margaritas! Luckily, we have whittled down the extensive list to a few top picks – read on for our favourite Mexican restaurants in Barcelona:

La HaçiendaLa Hacienda

With 2 restaurants in the El Born neighbourhood, La Haçienda offers amazing Mexican dining in the most colourful of atmospheres! Where the nachos are stacked high and the frozen margaritas are strong, La Haçienda is a great establishment for group dining and an all-round enjoyable eatery with great vibes. Perfect for meals with friends or after work festivities.

Carrer del Rec, 69, 08003, Barcelona

Carrer de la Princesa, 23, 08003, Barcelona

Taco AltoTaco Alto

If you’re looking for a cheap and quick Mexican snack, Taco Alto is definitely worth a visit, with branches in El Raval and El Born, they offer delicious tacos at prices that can’t be faulted! Taco Alto is what is known as a traditional Mexican taquería however with a modern touch and an endless menu with a wide variety of flavours and recipes.

Carrer del Portal Nou, 62, 08003 Barcelona

Rambla del Raval, 4, 08001 Barcelona

El PachucoEl Pachucho

If you’re looking for an atmosphere closer to a Mexican bar, then El Pachuco is the place for you! With bustling fiesta-like vibes, here you can enjoy choosing a refreshing beverage from the extensive drinks list inclusive of cocktails, beers and non- alcoholic beverages, as well as indulging in some delicious, authentic Mexican dishes – what could be better? The food is fantastic but it’s popularity and small amount of tables means there’s often a queue of hungry diners waiting to be seated – be sure to turn up earlier rather than later. The nachos are not to be missed! You have been warned…

Sant Pau 110, 08001 Barcelona

CarabelaCarabela Café

Located in the picturesque Port Vell, sourrounded by the tall masts of harboured boats, Carabela Café offers mouthwatering Mexican food at very pleasant prices. Its relaxed atmosphere and amazing customer service will ensure you feel at home whilst tucking into your nachos and sipping on Mexican cervezas… and with €6 cocktails, you really can’t go wrong!

Pas de Sota Muralla 3, 08003 Barcelona

La CatrinaLa Catrina de Barcelona

La Catrina de Barcelona is a family owned Mexican restaurant that offers delightful dishes and delicious cocktails at the highest of authenticity. Decorated with the most vibrant colours and located in the sophisticated neighbourhood of Eixample, this is definitely a Mexican eatery that you should tick off your list! We highly suggest you try the tacos…
Carrer Sardenya 196, 08013 Barcelona

Hoja SantaHoja Santa

Hoja Santa doesn’t offer your traditional quesadillas and nachos… However, if you’re looking for a gourmet Mexican culinary experience, then it’s definitely the place for you. Albert Adrià and Mexican chef Paco Méndez’ approach to popular Mexican cuisine lead to Hoja Santa being awarded a Michelin star in 2015 for their signature dishes. If that doesn’t sound good, we don’t know what does!

Avinguda de Mistral, 54, 08015 Barcelona

San PedritoSan Pedrito

Perhaps the one we are most excited about, which recently opened its doors this September, is San Pedrito in El Born. Set up by a pair of Mexican friends, this funky joint is oozing with authenticity, cool and quirky décor and of course, gobsmackingly delicious food. With an impressive bar serving raspberry mojitos and flowing mezcal along with plenty of tasty dishes including fresh ceviche, San Pedrito is a place you can’t go wrong. Downstairs is a smaller room offering more of a club vibe and open til late, where the DJ will serenade you with funky tunes way into the night.

Carrer Fusina 6, 08003 Barcelona
